Area of interest

 

Identifying the interactions of a given protein and activity-based protein profiling for biochemical pathway discovery have emerged as valuable information in the post–genomic era. I am interested in the investigations that support biomarkers identification and selection of specific effectors – such as peptides, antibodies or engineered cells – for therapeutic purposes. I am interested in mapping specific expression of proteins, their interaction with other biomolecules, quantification of the binding to modulators or substrates[i], the pathophysiology and clinical aspects. My approaches in basic and then translational research (biomarker research and immunotherapy) involved in vivo imaging and in vitro protein interaction analysis as based on their (natural) affinity:

 

a. Function and topography of disintegrin proteases and substrates in ontogenesis of the brain. [ii]

b. Development of tools to evaluate biomarkers for Alzheimer’s diseases and their implication in the immunotherapy[iii], [iv], [v].

c. Role of junction adhesion molecules in inflammation and lung cancer cells during metastasis[vi]

d. Specific interaction between neutrophil specific antigen CD177 and endothelial CD31[vii]. Demonstration that the heterophilic binding CD177-CD31 occurs during the inflammation and is stronger than the homophylic interaction CD31-CD31. HO-1 regulation is CD31 dependent. [viii]

e. Alloantibody-mediated platelet depletion in sera of neonatal alloimmune mediated thrombocytopenia patients [ix], [x]
